Assessment ChangeLog

A crucial aspect of any formal assessment process is documentation. The purpose of the Assessment ChangeLog is to document all substantive changes and/or actions taken as a result of the Assessment Process. This includes changes made to the curriculum, as well as non-curricular changes related to, for example, lab facilities and departmental policies and procedures.

The ChangeLog serves as evidence that actions and improvements are taken as a result of the Assessment Process. The ChangeLog therefore addresses standards from CAC/ABET Criteria for Accrediting Computing Programs (2007-2008), Section I, Objectives and Assessments:

  • Standard I-5. The results of the program's periodic assessments must be used to help identify opportunities for program improvement.
  • Standard I-6. The results of the program's assessments and the actions taken based on the results must be documented.

Each entry in the ChangeLog is intended to fully document the particular action(s) taken, and includes at a minimum the following information:

  • Detailed description of the specific change or action
  • Rationale for the change (including references to specific assessment results where available and appropriate)
  • Approval and effective dates

The ChangeLog is accessible from the COMPASS Portal.
