Our Assessment Process

The cyclical nature of our "Assessment Process Loop" is reflective of our ongoing commitment to self-evaluation and continuous improvement in our efforts toward achieving our goals.

Assessment Process "Loop"

Each step in the Process Loop must be completely documented. Documentation of assessment activities and results is available from the COMPASS Portal.

1. COLLECT INPUT (using various inputs):
   • Program Assessment Instruments
   • Course Assessment Instrument (every semester)
   • Review of Standards and Influences (ongoing)
   • Review effectiveness of actions taken as a result of previous assessments (ongoing)
2. ANALYZE:
   Analyze assessment results from various inputs in step 1, and identify actions for improvement.
3. IMPLEMENT:
   Implement changes and actions identified in step 2.
4. LOOP:
   Go to step 1 (thus “closing the loop” on the assessment process).

Assessment Outputs

Types of actions which may result from the Assessment Process include the following:

• Course modifications, additions, deletions
• Modifications to program requirements
• Revisions to program goals and outcomes
• Changes in the Assessment Process
• Non-curricular changes (i.e., changes to laboratory facilities, departmental policies and procedures)
