Laboratory FacilitiesThe Department of Computer Science maintains a comprehensive laboratory environment to support teaching and learning in CS. Our labs are equipped with current technologies and provide a flexible computing environment intended to give students the opportunity to learn and experiment with a wide variety of hardware and software tools commonly used in industry. Card access provides eligible CS majors with the 24/7 access to the CS computing lab and the TLC building using their UWG ID cards. We have a total of 6 labs:
ServicesThe Department supports a number of computing services that complement the physical labs, many of which are available remotely via the Internet. The most important of these is a comprehensive "course web" system that is used by all CS major courses as a classroom supplement for posting course content as well as for asynchronous class communication and interaction. The course web also provides a publicly accessible archive of all CS major courses offered since the Fall 2003 semester. Other lab services include network file storage, Trac and Subversion for project management and version control, a MySQL database server, and a virtual machine hosting environment for course projects. WirelessUWG's wireless network, ACCESSUWG, provides 802.11g (54Mbps) wireless network access from many areas on campus. All CS labs and office areas are covered by ACCESSUWG. Getting AccessIf you are a current CS major and would like to get setup for access to the CS lab, please see our card access and account information on the course web. PoliciesThere are several important policies that all students are expected to read and understand. These policies are available on the course web. Contact InformationPlease send questions, comments, or requests regarding the labs to the CS lab coordinator, Edwin Rudolph. |
