Congratulations to 2004 UPE scholarship recipients!

September 27 - Each year Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the international honor society for computing sciences, evaluates a large number of outstanding scholarship applications at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This year, two of our own CS undergrads have been awarded UPE scholarships.

Ms. Sunitha Shenoi, currently a senior, was awarded one of only ten $1000 scholarship awards funded by Microsoft Corporation. This is the second UWG student to receive this scholarship. Ms. Pamela Hibbard, a CS alumnus, received this award in 2000.

Mr. Anand Patel, also a senior, was awarded one of only two $1000 UPE/ACM scholarships.

According to Dr. Adel Abunawass, Professor and Chair of Computer Science, “it is very rare to have two recipients from the same institution and Department in one year. We have had three recipients since 2000, an exceptionally rare accomplishment. These awards recognize the outstanding work of the students, but also show the dedication and hard work of the Faculty and Staff who help the students to get there.” In particular, we would like to thank Dr. Anja Remshagen, our UPE chapter advisor, and Dr. Muhammad Rahman? for their efforts and dedication.
