Students recognized at 6th Annual CS Honors Banquet

April 1 - The Department held its 6th Annual Computer Science Honors Banquet on March 30th, 2005. This event recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of CS students, faculty, and staff. Several CS students were recognized with awards and honors this year.

Awards and Scholarships

The H. Olin Jordan Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship fund for CS undergraduates, created by Mrs. Helen Fillingim in memory of her father, H. Olin Jordan, was awarded to Jonathan Rohan . Congratulations Jonathan!

The Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant of the Year award was presented to Stephanie Miller. Stephanie has been instrumental in the development and coordination of the Department's csX peer-tutoring lab since coming to UWG as a student in the Applied CS graduate program in 2003. A very big thank you goes out to Stephanie!

CS undergraduates Krasimir Dimov and Florin Zidaru received the James E. Boyd award, a UWG award created in honor of James E. Boyd, former UWG President and Professor of Physics, to recognize outstanding undergraduates majoring in the sciences. Krasimir and Florin were also recognized for the Boyd Award at the University's Honors Convocation earlier in the day.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon Initiates

Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the International Honor Society for Computing Sciences, recognizes outstanding students, faculty, and industry professionals for scholarship and committment to advancing the computing field. The Delta Chapter of UPE at UWG holds its annual initiation ceremony in conjunction with the CS Honors Banquet. Seven students were initiated into the society by UWG's Delta Chapter this year:
