CS undergrad Anna Hix wins first place in sciences at Research Day Department News for Year 2006 ![]() April 6 - Anna Hix, a CS undergrad sophomore, recently presented her research paper, entitled "Discovering Lexical-Semantic Relations from the Person Name Entries of a Machine Readable Dictionary," at the 17th Midwest Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science Conference (MAICS 2006). The conference, held April 1 - 2 at Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, IN), is a peer-reviewed annual conference on Artificial Intelligence. Typically a conference consisting of mainly faculty and Ph.D. candidate attendees and presenters, Anna was the only undergraduate student at the conference. In addition, Anna presented her work at the UWG Sigma Xi Student Research Presentations, and won first place in the sciences at UWG's Research Day. As a first place winner, she represented the sciences at UWG's 8th Annual "Big Night" (see also UWG press release). She is pictured here with her research advisor, Dr. Muhammad Rahman?, where she was recognized at the Department's 7th Annual CS Honors Banquet. Congratulations Anna! |
