Department recognizes Outstanding CS Faculty Department News for Year 2006 April 6 - Each Spring semester, the Department recognizes two outstanding CS faculty with the Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year and the Outstanding Graduate Teacher of the Year awards. These awards are given based on the majority vote of CS undergraduate and graduate students, with voting conducted online from February through mid-March. All CS faculty who have taught at least one undergraduate and/or graduate course in the past year are eligible to receive an award except in the case where an individual received the award in the previous year. This year, Dr. Duane Yoder received the award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year, and Dr. Li Yang received the award for Outstanding Graduate Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to both Dr. Yoder and Dr. Yang! It is also customary for the Upsilon Pi Epsilon - Delta Chapter of Georgia here at UWG, to initiate one CS faculty as an "honorary faculty" member each year. This year, Dr. Dan Rocco was recognized as the honorary faculty UPE member for 2006. Congratulations Dr. Rocco! The awards were given at the Department's 7th Annual Computer Science Honors Banquet that was held on March 29th, 2006. Recipients of the award are listed on the Virtual Wall of Recognition. The complete set of pictures for the banquet is available on the CS Photo Album. |
