Areas of specialization include software engineering, object-oriented design, systems and networks, programming languages, human factors, databases and information management, web technologies, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and computational theory. Computing FacilitiesThe Department is housed in the recently constructed Technology Learning Center. Our lab facilities consist of general and specialized labs designed to support and enhance CS instruction and research. All CS majors have 24-hour access to labs using their UWG ID card. Our computing environment consists of Windows, UNIX, and Mac systems. All students have access to a wide variety of software tools and technologies commonly used in industry, most of which are also available for students' own computers at no cost. In addition, the Department is covered by a campus-wide high-speed wireless network. computer science eXperiencecomputer science eXperience (csX) is a free resource center operated by the Department that assists students taking introductory CS courses by offering peer tutoring and mentoring. Course WebThe Department maintains a comprehensive course web system where past and current course materials are accessible online. This system provides a consistent interface for faculty to post course content and materials and provides various tools for class communication and interaction. Nearly all current and past courses on the system are open for guest access - we encourage you to browse through the system to see the types of, and content from, courses we offer.
