Course DescriptionsCS 1000 - Practical ComputingA hands-on introduction to the use of personal computers and software, input/output devices, graphical user interfaces, teminology, and software. (Fulfills Core Area B2.) Pre-requisites: None Course Outcomes
CS 1020 - Computers and SocietyA hands-on instruction to the use of personal computers and software, with an introductory examination of the effects of computer technology on contemporary society. Topics will include productivity applications, creation of web pages, social and ethical issues in computing; privacy, security, censorship, and the changes in work, school, and entertainment fostered by computing. (Fulfills Core Area B2.) Pre-requisites: None Course Outcomes
CS 1030 - Introduction to Computer ConceptsAn introduction to the concepts, usage, and uses of computers. Topics include the social and ethical aspects of computing; the Internet, including the creation of Web pages; digital logic and the binary number system; and overview of computer architecture, operating systems, and applications; an introduction to algorithms and programming using Visual BASIC. (Fulfills Core area D2 for non-science majors.) Pre-requisites: None Course Outcomes
